History

Felsenkeller

Until 1730 copper and iron ore were mined here. Even at this time there was a restaurant catering for the hungry miners. In 1830 our house was built in front of the tunnel – that is why it is called “Am Felsenkeller”.

1830 First mention of the house, owned by the Wieslers
1900 Jabok Bohnert purchases the house. He is a brewer of the Feierling brewery in Freiburg. In the purchased house he keeps a restaurant and sells his own brewed beer. However, his son becomes a banker and therefore his wife takes over the restaurant
1956 The ownership of the restaurant changes several times
1969 The Ortliebs purchase the house. Today it is a family-run business in the second generation
1994 A hotel building is added
