Demeter & Bioland

The „Demeter“name is used for products from organic-dynamic farming. This represents the most sustainable mode of agriculture and ensures the constant growth of the humus soil layer. Its name is derived from to the Greek goddess of mothers and fertility, Demeter.

The symbol has been used since 1928 and has been protected ever since. Only official partners are entitled to use it and they must adhere to Demeter-organization rules and regulations throughout the whole process of growing and processing. Those regulations also comply with the EC-organic-control according to EC-eco-regulations. These are carried out annually by governmental institutions. However, Demeter-regulations even go beyond those in some aspects.

Demeter sets high quality standards from growing to processing and selling. By means of home-made fertilizers made of manure, medicinal plants and minerals, soil fertility is supported sustainably in organic-dynamic farming. This also helps the plants to fully develop their characteristic flavor.

“Bioland” is the leading organic-farming association in Germany. Farming in “Bioland”-enterprises is based on a cycle – without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Animals are kept in a humane manner and food is processed with care. All this enables an environmentally-friendly and sustainable method of growing food.
